Abel makes 37 sizes of fly reels in four models – Super Series Large Arbor, Big Game Standard Arbor, Anti/Reverse in both large and standard arbor, and Abel Creek in both large and standard arbor. If it swims, there’s an Abel Reel for it. Reels are machined from cold finished 6061-T6 aircraft quality aluminum. As defined by Alcoa, “Aluminum rod is brought to final dimensions by cold working [finishing] to obtain improved surface finish and dimensional
tolerances. Extra processing steps are taken to ensure enhanced product performance!”
Reels are then precision machined (not die cast) on C.N.C. lathes and mills.
They are then both machined and hand de-burred, hand polished, cleaned and inspected.
The end result is a lightweight reel that’s tough as a moving van and destined to be fished by you, your children, grandchildren and theirs! |
