Fish Cat Streamer XL-IR - Pontoons | Large

Description of the Fish Cat Streamer XL-IR - Pontoons:

The Streamer XL's short length and compact size make this boat great for making the transition from a float tube to a pontoon boat. The pontoons were redesigned for easier maneuvering with fins or oars. The 6 piece steel frame now includes an anchor system/motor mount and is more ergonomic. 6' aluminum breakdown oars, a mesh cargo deck, and adjustable foot bars round out the features of this entry level fishing machine.

Fish Cat good deal

Pros: The Fish Cat did everything it was advertised to do. It is sturdy, maneuvers well, and is very comfortable. The last point is important for me because I consider myself a lazy fisherman--if I have to work too hard, then it's not fun and I don't go fishing or cut short the outing. Also in the area of comfort, the molded plastic back allows me to sit up straight and avoid the nagging back problems that I used to get sitting in a canoe. The bottom line is that I am very happy with the Fish Cat and feel that I it was well worth what I paid for it.
Cons: Two comments: First, it would be great if the Fish Cat could be designed with some type of oar stay--that is, a bracket that could hold the oar parallel to the pontoons when not in use. I probably could rig up something for this purpose, but I wouldn't mind paying a few extra dollars to get something designed specifically for the job. Second, the instructions for assembling the Fish Cat are inadequate. Granted, the pontoon boat doesn't have many pieces, and I was able to figure it out, but a few good diagrams would be a big help. Also, there should be a listing of all the parts with an associated picture.
I am kinda hard to please

Pros: I have spent considerable time looking for a good, versatile and comfortable pontoon or float tube for use while fishing. I previously checked out the Fish Cat Streamer XL, but was not satisfied that it would not meet my needs. Then I tried the Fish Cat Streamer XL-IR, and found it to be a great improvement over the basic Streamer XL.
Cons: While it does have an anchor system/motor mount, it still had some draw-backs for me. The seat of molded plastic is very uncomfortable for long periods of sitting, especially if you are one of those who suffers from hemorrhoids. And the frame is of Steel instead of Aluminum.
Other Thoughts: I am kinda hard to please, but this model may be just right for you!
