Description of the G. Loomis Trout StreamDance GLX - Rods: |
| Flyfishing for trout is a mystical, almost spiritual event for
many anglers. We put a bit of that spirit, along with a little
of the mystique into each one of our fly rods. It's not always
about catching the biggest or the most or in some cases,
catching any fish at all, because for some, catching fish is a
bonus. The feeling of peace and serenity we experience on
the water is something we all love about fishing. It's being
in the mountains and the valleys, surrounded by all that is
beautiful in nature. It's the experience of making a nice
loop or the satisfaction of a delicate presentation that
fulfills a need deep in our souls. It's the expectation and
exhilaration of watching a small dry fly floating high on the
water as it makes it way through the likely feeding station
of a big rainbow. It truly is a "dance on water" and it's what
inspired us to create the StreamDance Series. We ventured
down a new path cosmetically with these rods - shifting
from the stark look of technology, embracing the beauty
and spirit of what we know is truly the essence of flyfishing.
We added subtle colors to mirror the memories in our
mind's eye of the streamside experience. We added a
unique "yin-yang" design cutout in our reel seat, with a
beautiful wood insert made of California Buckeye Burl and
the highest grade of species cork available to complete the
handle. We added the magic of Steve Rajeff's intimate
understanding of blank design and GLX, along with the
lightest, most durable guides in the industry to complete a
true work of art we call StreamDance. We're confident
you'll like what you feel!
A precision, lightweight trout rod designed for casting on
small freestone creeks and tight spots where distance isn't
an issue. It allows you to make pinpoint, darting casts
where accuracy is everything. Thanks to GLX it's light as a
feather and you can almost read a fish's mind when he's
trying to get back to the safety of that rock or limb.
Whether it's lake or pond, river or stream... this is what
small water fishing is all about.

Small Streams & Fast Water
Early season high water, causes small creeks to flow much
faster than later in the year. Often at these times,
weighted nymphs are the ticket to success, and it is helpful
to have a small rod with enough backbone to punch out
these small weighted flies. Also, for casting dries on windy
days, a faster tempo casting cycle will keep the fly on the
water more minutes of the day.

Small streams and medium-
size spring creeks often challenge you to extend casts
approaching 45 feet. Slightly longer rod lengths help make
casting tasks and line control mends easier. Light lines in
sizes # 3 and # 4 are the norm when the utmost in accuracy
and presentation is needed, using flies from #14 down to
#24, with 5x to 8x tippets.

When the wind picks up,
take command on larger spring creeks with tighter loops,
increased control, and more accurate casts. The slightly
more powerful designs within the High Line Speed range
deliver it all in 8 and 9-foot lengths with #4 and #5 lines,
which are increasingly becoming the most dominant player
in this environment.

Standing in the relative
openness of large spring creeks or slow moving bodies of
water exposes you to spooking fish. Longer range, soft
presentation casts become a must under these conditions.
Delicacy and accuracy are still at a premium, but there
needs to be enough power to turn over longer leaders with
a wide range of fly sizes. These same conditions are also
found in early morning, fishing on ponds with trout sipping
emergers.

Big dries, weighted flies,
streamers, multi flies, long leaders, strike indicators, sink
tips, split shot, are all buggers to cast, even without much
wind. Add long casts from float tubes and that's why you
need some extra horsepower. And should all the stars and
mayflies align, and the conditions get calm, you'll want fine
diameter tips that can still protect light tippets and offer
trout fishing versatility.

Pros: I have the 9ft 4wt HLS it is a great all around trout rod make dry flies land softly on the surface and also cast the beadhead stone flies with a trailer fly with little effort. when you make a cast it just feels good thats all I am trying to say. |
 |
 |
Cons: this rod has a narrow grip so if you can plam a full size basketball the grip might bother you a little bit. |

Pros: My opinion of the GLX Streamdance is , that it is AWESOME! I learned to fly-fish on a St. Croix a few years ago. I heard stories about G.Loomis Rods, but never fished with one. I bought my GLX Streamdance High Line Speed 6wt, last summer. The Streamdance is a Beautiful rod, and I would recomend it to anyone. Especially anyone who Fly-Fishes!!! The Streamdance, will lay your bug down the water just as smooth as glass. The Streamdance will also launch your fly to unbelievable distances effortlessly. I highly recomend,(G.Loomis Streamdance GLX) |
