Pros: On a recent trip to the Bristol Bay drainage in Alaska, I used the Parachute PMD on a very small stream dominated by Arctic Grayling. I was pleased with the performance of the fly and caught numerous 12-14 inch fish on it using a 4 wt. rod. One problem the fly solved was visibility. In the low light Alaskan conditions fishing a size 16 Elk Hair Caddis proved difficult for my old eyes to see. The PMD Parachute helped me to see the float. The Grayling dry strike is such a finesse strike that if you don't have quick hands you will not hook up. We enjoyed fishing for the smaller fish and caught a lot of larger rainbows and Char on some much larger selections. I can recommend this fly to others with a high degree of confidence. |

Cons: As with other patterns, the Grayling often take the fly deep and I found that this fly often gave up the parachute feature to the hook remover. I guess I just can't see that well any more. |
