If you appreciate the benefits of modern craftsmanship, style and performance in a name that is more reel than price, maybe your next reel should be a Galvan!
All models are fully machined from 6061 bar-stock aluminum and anodized to a semi-gloss finish. By fully ventilating both the one-side frame and push-button, quick release spool, every reel is comfortably light weight - a perfect match for today's high performance fly rods. Spools are counter-balanced for wobble-free rotation and feature a contoured Delrin handle.
Bonifacio Galvan is a small-stream, Sierra trout fisherman by avocation, and a machinist by trade. After fishing his home waters for years with commercially available reels, Galvan began to envision a design of his own. What was he looking for in a fly reel? What we all want: A light, rugged reel with exceptionally smooth action and drag system, pleasing aesthetics, and durability.
And so the Galvan reel was born. Its genesis was in the high mountain streams of the central Sierra Nevada, and in Boni Galvan’s desire to make a better fly reel. In 1992, using his machinist’s skills and trout fisherman’s intuition, Galvan created the first prototype. Since then his reel has metamorphosed through several configurations, until, in the summer of 1994 it was ready for distribution. The finished product is one of the lightest, smoothest, most simply elegant reels in its price class. |
