Description of the Sage Launch - Rods:

The three years we spent developing G5 Technology clearly demonstrated that the key to better casting is the ability to feel the rod load. So when we designed our new Launch Rods, we applied what we've learned to create a smooth, progressive power curve and an extremely high strength-to-weight ratio. Loosely translated, that means Launch rods, provide an exceptional level of line connection, or feel, allowing anglers of all abilities to cast better and more easily. And because they're Sage Rods, every Launch is hand built on Bainbridge Island with wood reel seat inserts, chrome-plated snake guides and high-grade Potuguese cork grips.

Sage on their Rods
Some say Sage rods are legendary for their magical properties, their propensity for placing flies just above the ripple. We don't know about magic, but we do know that every Sage rod is made by hand and we make rods for anglers of every stripe...

At Sage, every piece of angling equipment we make is designed, tested and hand built with one goal in mind: Maximum fishability. It's a term we came up with a few years back to describe the kind of performance that helps you cast better, fish more effectively and have more fun. In short, every Sage rod, reel and line is specifically designed to help you make the most of your precious time on the water.

Experience Level: Amatuer - Ownership: 4 - 12 Months
Pros: Excellent fly rod for the money Nice soft presentation I have the 3weight and 5 weight both 2 peice
Cons: Lacks some power compared to other rods I have due to a bit slower action
Other Thoughts: I like this rod on days without wind. I like it in the summer when the bugs get smaller and I need a nice soft presentation with a light long leader
Great Rod

Experience Level: Amatuer - Ownership: 1 - 4 Months
Pros: I took the launch up to alaska with me this summer in September and fished the Anchorage area with it for silvers. It was stiff enough to pull in a large fish but had enough action to play it as well. It also enabled long casts on the larger rivers we fished which was helpful.
Cons: The cork on the handle was not very durable and after only a month of fishing has many soft spots. The ceramic lining on the first loop of the rod broke out in the first week and has slowed down the release of line.
Other Thoughts: I would like to contact sage or have you contact me to get the eye loop fixed and see if the soft spots in the cork are normal.

Pros: For my style of fishing, the Launch has been fantastic.(Lake Erie Trib Steelhead) (9 ft. 2pc. 8wt} It is a pleasure to fish with and my landing % has gone WAY up. In fact, I commented to my son that if this rod is fantastic, how could a top model be that much better!(At least for me)Because of my experience with this big rod, I'm putting a 3 wt. in my arsenal for stream trout.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Great fishing rod for an angler of my skill level.
