"Simms. The choice of professional guides; and anyone else who lives to fish. "

Wherever you find fish, you're going to find fishing guides. And wherever you find fishing guides, you're going to find Simms. Guides need gear that is functional, innovative and can withstand whatever abuse they put it through.

There are a lot of fishermen out there that have to deal with back pain while fishing. This seems to be a common issue, especially among older fly fishermen. Many times as we strain to see and focus on those small dry flies in their perfect drifts we find ourselves bending forward slightly for minutes at a time, and this is in many cases where those back aches arise.

The Simms Magic Back Wading Belt serves a dual purpose here in that it offers the safety of a wading belt while providing the comfort and support your back will be thankful for on those intense moments where the hatch leaves you in that forward lean. Lightweight in it construction, adjustable, and available in three sizes the Simms Back Magic is a great wading belt.

Good belt but not great
Rating: 3 of 5 [3 of 5]

Pros: Just got back from a week in Alaska hauling in big Coho's. Great trip and I wore this belt all day for 5 days, so I think its a fair evaluation period. The pros are that its pretty easily adjustable and it does give very good back support. I've been using a smaller version for years and I believe that this larger version does give more support.
Cons: First off, the velcro piece that you use to attach the two ends only goes to the end of one side and is attached at the very back. This didn't give me enough room even when I extended the strings to the max. So I cut off the velcro and used it to extend the length. I debated on sending it back rather than cutting up a new piece of $100 kit, but this solution worked fine. The second minor issue I had was that this belt needed pretty constant attention to keep it up and in place. Granted, a thinner fisherman than me might not have that problem, but the material certainly does not grab onto wader material as well as I would hope. Both pretty minor issues, but I think it warrants knocking the rating a couple of stars.
Other Thoughts: Can't say enough about the great RiverBum service.

Crucial Wadding Belt
Rating: 5 of 5 [5 of 5]

Experience Level: Amatuer - Ownership: 4 - 12 Months
Pros: I have had back problems for years and end up leaving a great fishing day with a sore back due to wading for multiple hours at a time. This eliminates soreness and fatigue by providing the support you need during long hours wadding. Unlike other support wadding belts this one is designed with comfort in mind by adding a breathable mesh design that does not suffocate your mid-section while wearing it. This is crucial for anyone looking for back support while fishing, even if you don't have back problems it is nice to have and will give you the added wadding endurance needed for those longs halls casting for the finicky big one in a deep hole.

Can buckle away two problems
Rating: 4 of 5 [4 of 5]

Experience Level: Amatuer - Ownership: 4 - 12 Months
Pros: I am an older fisherman and sometimes have back pain while doing my favorite activity. Simms Back Magic Wading Belt can buckle away two problems. First you get the safety of a wading belt. Second, the special design of the belt which gives support to your back. Most of that pain comes from when you are bending forward slightly to keep your eye on the fly for a few minutes.
Cons: None
