Vibram® G4 Guide - Wading Boots | Large

Description of the Vibram® G4 Guide - Wading Boots:

The G4 Guide Boot is a new wading boot for 2009. This is the most durable, hardest working boot that Simms has ever developed. The combination of leather and Schoeller fabric along with the new Vibram® StreamTread™ sole will provide durability that most other wading boots can not provide.

New for 2009 Simms and Vibram have worked together to produce the Vibram® StreamTread™ sole. An ultra-grippy, super-sticky rubber sole that works as good or better than felt in virtually any wet or aquatic condition. This is the most aggressive sticky rubber sole available and will give you great traction not only in the water but out of as well. Mud, wet grass, snow and other conditions that can be challenging with other sole options are easily handled with the StreamTread™ sole. These new soles have been field tested extensively and will perform far better than any rubber soled fishing footwear currently on the market.

  • New StreamTread™ sole with the Vibram® Idrogrip™ 360 degree traction lug design
  • Molded HardBite Stud receptacles
  • Bellowed tongue features an easy cleaning CleanStream™ design
  • Minimum exposed stitching for increased durability
  • Fully neoprene lined with closed cell foam for minimal water absorption
  • Rubber rand for superior durability
  • Internal 3D ankle stabilizer to wrap your ankle and provide support and cushion
  • Contoured speed lacing system with roller guide eyelet for a friction free adjustment
  • Almost 10 oz. lighter than the popular G3 Guide Boots
  • High quality denier nylon laces
  • The Vibram® soled boots will be a big step forward in anglers' fight against aquatic nuisance species - organisms like didymo, whirling disease and New Zealand mud snails that are transferred to other waterways via felt and matter caught on the boots. Already, New Zealand has banned felt-soled boots and some states are asking anglers to avoid using felt soled shoes. Additionally, Simms boots and waders are designed with the “CleanStream™ technology,”. This philosophy and design uses materials and production techniques to make it more difficult for microorganisms to attach and makes Simms wading gear easier to properly clean.

G4 Wade Boot
Rating: 4 of 5 [4 of 5]

Experience Level: Pro - Ownership: 4 - 12 Months
Pros: A sturdy boot with a nice wide, balanced footprint. Great support and comfortable. The Vibram sole is okay at first.
Cons: After roughly 8 months, the Vibram sole is showing significant wear (and not from walking on pavement). Should not be compared to felt. I'm going to use the new "star studs" to get a little traction. Been through 3 prs. of laces. No big deal, just annoying.

Pros: This is nice boots. Very comfortable. Easy to put on and off. Used them five weeks this summer. This boots worked well on slippy stones in the river.
Cons: I cant say anything negative about this product.

Experience Level: Amatuer - Ownership: 1 - 4 Months
Pros: The boot is comfortable, and it really holds up well in all types of conditions.
Cons: The Streamtread is not what I expected in the grip area. Several times I have almost fallen off slippery rocks. I live and fish in the Pacific Northwest and we have some wet areas where felt is excellent, but the Streamtread is just not sticky enough. I do not feel comfortable with these in my home rivers.
