Description of the Vibram Rivershed - Wading Boots:

Hell hath no furry like a river scorned. And with the easy-cleaning capabilities of this CleanStream™ inspired boot it takes little more than a quick rinse and scrub to keep the AIS demons at bay. Housed in a full perimeter of burly rubber, Riversheds™ fuse the exceptional support and durability of a true hiker, with the lightweight capabilities of your favorite runner. Fishing nirvana awaits.

Simms and Vibram have worked together to produce the Vibram® StreamTread™ sole. An ultra-grippy, super-sticky rubber sole that works as good or better than felt in virtually any wet or aquatic condition. This sole is the most aggressive sticky rubber sole available and will give you great traction not only in the water but out of as well. Mud, wet grass, snow and other conditions that can be challenging with other sole options are easily handled with the StreamTread™ sole. These new soles have been field tested extensively and will perform far better than any rubber soled fishing footwear currently on the market.

The Vibram soled boots will be a big step forward in anglers' fight against aquatic nuisance species - organisms like didymo, whirling disease and New Zealand mud snails that are transferred to other waterways via felt and matter caught on the boots. Already, New Zealand has banned felt-soled boots and some states are asking anglers to avoid using felt soled shoes. Additionally, Simms boots and waders are designed with the “CleanStream™ technology,”. This philosophy and design uses materials and production techniques to make it more difficult for microorganisms to attach and makes Simms wading gear easier to properly clean.

Pros: These boots are built very well I believe they are a bit on the heavy side though. They are comfortable on the foot and to walk in with good support. I am used to felt but thought I would try these and I must say you have to watch your footing on slick rocks however the hard bite studs may help with this problem.
Cons: Kind of clunky a bit on the heavy side and slippery on rocks.

Pros: Great fit, better overall traction than my felt boots, light weight, quick drying as advertised, very durable so far, easy on and off, The light weight really helps on longer walks. The size runs close to shoe size.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: I did attach the Simms HardBite Star Cleat Studs which were extra.

Pros: They were very sturdy yet comfortable and it was surprising how grippy the soles are on slippery river rocks. After the first day of use I had complete confidence in them in rough water. They were also excellent for hiking.
Cons: They seem to be about a half size larger than non-SImms boots I've owned. After 10 continuous days of use the laces were already beginning to fray.
Other Thoughts: Hope I can easily find replacement laces. I like to keep a spare pair in my bag.

Pros: Killer boot with great structure and support. Very comfortable for longer walks in and out of the water. Easy on and off and you can quickly lace them up when you hands a frozen.
Cons: $$$$ but you get what you pay for and there is a good chance you will have them for 5-6 seasons.
Other Thoughts: Leave the felt at home, these boots get the job done and then some.
Awesome boot

Experience Level: Amatuer - Ownership: 4 - 12 Months
Pros: I was a little worried about switching from felt to these sticky rubber soles. They are soooo nice! I think they stick better than my felt boots. The footing on rocks under water feels more secure and jumping rock to rock on mountain streams is no problem. There is more toe space in these and they needed no break in time. Hiking into your favorite spot is a breeze. Awesome boot.
Cons: They cost a bit much but, doesn't all the good stuff?
Other Thoughts: These are built well and should last a long time.
