Pros: Instant read of water without dunking.
Cons: If you dunk it, it dies.
Other Thoughts: Stick with the traditional thermometer until WJ comes out with the infrared that is waterproof.

Pros: it is fast
Cons: I can't believe some one can create a device for checking water temperature that cant get wet. I used it once and it got a little wet from rain and being in a pack that got a little wet while wading and would not work till I took it home and dried it out for a few days
