Pros: The Old School Satchel is a great substitute for a vest on those warm Spring/Summer days when you have to walk a while to fine your honey hole. The hip belt turns it into a fanny pack and along with the shoulder strap makes it easy to undo and swing around and have everything right in front of you. It has plenty of inside pockets to organize your fly boxes. And it is water proof as long as you don’t completely submerge it.
Cons: The zipper pulls are made of plastic and I broke one off not long after I got it. I just clipped a small tape measure to it. It worked out just fine.
Other Thoughts: I won't through away my vest, but I do love my satchel.

Pros: Love this satchel. Retired my vest.
Cons: Can carry too much if you're not careful.

Pros: All your gear is in one convenient area. when its not needed it can be swung on your back out of the way, more freedom of movement. There's plenty of room and pockets to organize and carry a lot of gear.
Cons: The strap it comes with has no padding, I substituted a padded strap and took care of the problem, if you carry a lot of gear like I do, your shoulder might be a little sore at the end of the day.
Other Thoughts: I like the satchel, it doesn't get in the way when casting, when I need to change flies or what ever I just swing it around and all my gear is right in front of me, don't have to search through vest pockets for the box with the fly I need, and its nice and cool in the summer, all in all I'm a satisfied customer.

Pros: William Joseph Old School Satchel is fantastic. Practically water tight and enough of compartments to fill more than a vest and then some. Used it in hike ins, float tubes, canoes, streams and raging rivers from Califon, N.J. to Rangeley, Maine. You can also stuff a light wading jacket in one section. Better than a pack or vest pack with everything at your fingertips. Open the satchel and grab every fly box you own- its all in one place.
Cons: Only thing it lacks is a fly patch.
Other Thoughts: 5 for versatility; 5 for convienence; 4.5 overall because it lacks a fly patch or strip like the other WJ products I own. I would trade all my WJ vests and packs for another one of these satchels if it had a fly patch--and that is saying a lot .
No fuss, No hassle

Pros: William Josephs Old School is appropriately named. Every part of this pack is simple, accessible and did I mention SIMPLE? No fuss, no hassle.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: If you're an uncomplicated person and you like it that way, this bag is for you.
